Most information sources for OCD, or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, are geared towards treating the symptoms caused by the problem, and not towards helping you find the actual root of it, or truly curing you, and thus your OCD may become dealt with improperly. The big picture is not shown and so you cannot make the right decisions based on that information. You may have found yourself no better off than where you had started when searching for these kinds of help sources as well. Now you can learn just how possible it is to defeat your OCD from someone who has been through exactly what you have been through! You see, you are in luck because you have found someone with experience in dealing with it personally!
You must learn about your problem before solving it. It is a necessary first step. The more you know about any problem, the better equipped you are to solve it. One of the most important things to realize is that Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is merely a habit, caused by thoughts that your mind deems important, and not an actual disorder or illness at all. Thoughts like these are often harmful long term, causing interference with your life by taking time, happiness and experiences out of living day to day. It is often unnecessary and the rituals to satisfy them can be tiring. Take some of that time to learn to stop it!
The next thing you need to face is the fact that, while your Obsessive Compulsive Disorder can be beaten, it does take time and you will need to build up the patience needed to work with it. Your mind cannot make changes like this overnight! Stopping OCD is counterintuitive to what you would naturally think would stop it, and that is why it seems difficult or impossible to do so. My methods involve a series of little tricks that are easy to learn and will help make the whole process seem much easier than you ever thought possible! You CAN achieve your goal to stop OCD!
Although medication is not the answer, it is possible to take some forms of it while using this system. Sometimes the physical and emotional effects that can result from your OCD may require this medication in order for you to continue living your life normally, and while this is not directly harmful, keep in mind that this will not cure your Obsessive Compulsive Disorder alone! Another important thing to understand is that seeing more than one therapist or counselor at a time may cause you to become confused, or frustrated. I will show you in later materials how you can not only get this problem under control temporarily, but permanently!
You can achieve success if you remember that solving your OCD problem will take time. Giving up should not be an option! These thought processes are not an illness, but must be dealt with in order to break your habits! Keep in mind whether or not the person helping you has experienced Obsessive Compulsive Disorder themselves, because it is vital to learn from someone who truly knows what works and what does not! Do not search for multiple solutions at a time. Confusion or even preventing one method from working properly can occur by not following through with it.

OCD Books and How to Locate the Right One
Books about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, which we will call OCD books, are incomplete most of the time when trying to explain the facts about the condition that it attempts to educate people on. Usually this is because the writers have never even had an experience with OCD themselves, and so much information that could really help you is left out. It is never a good idea to go by what someone who doesn't fully understand something says, and is important to find someone who has. I have dealt with OCD personally, and I know what works, and what a waste of your time some things can be. I have information for you that may help!
OCD books often leave out that the problem isn't a disease or a sickness. You may be surprised that it is just an irritating habit that you can be rid of! Your mind may force you to do these habits out of fear that something bad will occur should you fail to take action. The habits I speak of can really leave an impact on your day to day life. If you are living with OCD, you might notice that you often miss out on things, such as leaving to go somewhere on time, or finishing something that is important to you, and it is merely because you spend so much time trying to satisfy your mind! This is not impossible to fix.
An important thing to think about when looking for information, be it on a program or in an OCD book, is that hopping from source to source will not get you anywhere. Whatever you decide to do you should stay with that method until you have given it enough time to work. A big issue people have with tracking down multiple "cures" and information sources is that it can become confusing and stressful for them. You may get two different methods which state that the other is inefficient and unsuccessful, but how will you know for sure until you've given a single option the time and devotion that it requires?
Better decision making is made with patience, and you will be on the right track as soon as you realize and understand this. When something is wrong with how your body normally functions, what does that tell you? It means that something is not right. Well, I can tell you that it is the same with your mind, as your mind is also a part of your body. OCD books often leave out that any habit, ritual or action taken to satisfy your thoughts is based on what your mind perceives as important, and that this is because we dwell upon unpleasant thoughts we wish to get rid of.
Your habits are not the result of a disorder or illness. Find someone who has been through what you are experiencing in order to get the most helpful information. Most OCD books cannot give you the big picture, because the authors who wrote them haven't even dealt with OCD themselves. Find a program that provides the right information, and that you feel confident in! Don't stress out, because although your mind is telling you something is not right, it is fixable! Please make use of the information I have for you below, because I think it will be very helpful!

OCD Workbooks - How to Use Them Most Effectively
Common companions for a lot of people who suffer from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (or OCD) symptoms are OCD workbooks. Similar to that of a diary or journal, these workbooks can be very helpful in tracking the progress of how well someone is doing while following a certain method of treatment, as well as many other things involved with their problem, like keeping a record of the user's efforts from day to day. More specifically, this sort of journal will help the person as they write down information about what they did when following each step that their chosen program describes, and any results from those efforts. When fighting OCD symptoms, this really is a good option and a helper that is easy to use. It should seriously be considered, along with many other options. This practice is not only good for people with OCD, but as a matter of fact, it can also be good for anyone dealing with other stressors as well. It can help you keep track of what you have accomplished so far in reaching your goals.
Are you thinking of using OCD Workbooks? If so, you should recognize that even though they are a wonderful tool to use in helping to end your trouble, they really can't be utilized to their full potential by themselves. You may discover that you are giving in to your problem more easily than if you were to unite this system with a working treatment against OCD. In order for this sort of diary to really be efficient you have got to initially search for a good program with external help to work with it. When searching for the correct program for yourself, you ought to keep in mind how significant it is to converse with, and study from people who have previously dealt with what you are experiencing. They are the only ones who can actually give you the accurate information. Frequently the authors, therapists and doctors who try to assist patients with OCD have not really ever had any personal experience with it, and can't offer as much information as is essential to helping you within their own program.
Probably the most important thing to remember, is that you ought to grant any system or method that you decide to use with your OCD workbooks all of the dedication and time that they may require for them to work successfully. Patience is a key, and it will be tested innumerable times throughout your struggle with OCD, but you aren't on your own in this fight. A lot of others have met victory in curing their difficulty with OCD. This is why you shouldn't give up hope. Stay with a single system and plan that has been confirmed to be effective, and is backed up by someone who has true understanding in what it's like to deal with it. If you change between programs often, it may turn out to be perplexing, and stop you from gaining the complete advantage that one program may offer. Keep in mind that you should use your workbook often to view your advancement, and I'm sure you will gain the self-confidence you require to stick to it. There is no better reward than to feel the freedom you have earned from your OCD once it is defeated. And you can accomplish this.

Are you having a hard time loving someone with OCD? Obsessive Compulsive Disorder can affect different kinds of people in numerous ways, but you don't have to be the one who's experiencing the problem directly to have difficulties of your own with it. When someone you care about shows signs of unusual behavior, it can frequently lead to causing trouble within the relationship. Most times this can get worse since no one actually understands what is happening. Bad thoughts have an easier time manifesting in our minds while something we care about appears to be off. We become fearful that the trouble has something to do with ourselves, or even begin to have wrong ideas about the other person. You may question whether or not their actions are made with the point of annoying you, to make a plain statement, or any amount of other reasons. If you wish to know for sure what is happening, and to save your relationship before it becomes worse, you ought to do both of you a favor and simply chat.
To understand what the person you care for is going through, you must first learn a little bit about what OCD really is. There are different kinds of OCD, and depending on what type the person is dealing with, it can be easier or harder to work with. If he or she opens up to you and tries to explain what they are feeling, the worst thing you can do is treat the situation like a mental illness. No matter how absurd these feelings may sound to you, they are real, and caused by thoughts and fears that need to be addressed. You may find that the person feels a need to perform rituals, or takes up strange habits when doing something simple that you do normally. Loving someone with OCD can be a challenge, but you can be a big help in their efforts to defeat the problem, through caring and support. They can offer you the complete picture and give information based on what they have discovered and what worked for them. Most authors and doctors trying to provide this information have not dealt with OCD personally, and therefore they may leave out important things that could help you. The Cause of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
The cause of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is not truly known. There is a lot of speculation as to what may have triggered it. Some therapists say that it is something that happened in your childhood. Others say that it could just be an accumulation of your past experiences and current knowledge that makes you react out of fear toward an new experience that almost makes something inside your brain, "snap" so to speak. I would really like to clear up the term "snap." What I mean by this is that something happens or you have a thought that makes you feel strong feelings like you have to do something such as perform a ritual or something to take away the bad feelings. So you don't go crazy or anything like that, you just may feel like you do because this new urge is new and scary to you.
The cause of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is one of the very first questions asked by sufferers. The fact of the matter is that you do not need to know how it started in order to stop it! Do you need to know how electricity works to flip the light switch and turn the lights on? Do you need to know how your car engine works to drive the car and to get the desired result out of it? No, so you don't need to know the origin of your OCD. However it does not hurt to know as well. However if you know what type of behaviors to avoid, it truly does not matter if you know how your OCD started. One of the things that I would encourage you to do is to get a base understanding of OCD and how it works. This way you can at least know what kind of beast you are dealing with. When you know more about OCD, you will feel more comfortable. Knowledge brings a comfort that will aid you in making the right decisions when it comes to OCD.
Many people simply start taking drugs and things of that nature to try to get rid of these thoughts and it's not really their fault. They are falsely educated that the cause of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a deficiency of the correct chemicals in the brain. The truth is that there is something that caused this deficiency and you really need to get to the bottom of that. There are many things that can contribute to OCD. Some of these things include diet, lack of exercise, too much stress and focusing on negative thinking all the time. The cause of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder may be different in one person and still different in another. The only way that anyone can get rid of OCD however, is to learn a new skill and that skill is the skill of learning how to control what you focus on.
We are no longer spectators in our thought life but now we are participants. The cause of obsessive compulsive disorder is not necessary to get rid of OCD. If you want to truly get rid of your OCD, you must learn how to control what you think about. You cannot just fight a thought because if you fight something, that means that you are focusing on it. If you focus on a thought you are making it stronger. However if you introduce new thoughts while you are thinking of the unwanted thought, you can start to steer your mind's focus from the unwanted thought to any thought that you would rather focus on. I've put together some excellent material going more in depth into the secret world of OCD sufferers below, enjoy!

Information on Obsessive Compulsive Disorder - The Vital Facts About OCD
Information on Obsessive Compulsive Disorder can sometimes be misleading and we'll cover some of those things right here and what you need to know about OCD. The reason why some teachings about OCD are misleading is due to the fact that most people that teach about OCD actually have not gone through it themselves and it makes it really difficult to help someone when you can't relate to them on an emotional level. What I learned a long time ago is that OCD is not a disease or a disorder even though they named it as such.
When I was studying information on Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, I found that much of it was telling people how to "deal" with it and I really did not find many pieces of advice that had to do with getting rid of it. Most professionals simply will not even consider the possibility that OCD can actually be cured and that it is not a disorder but in reality just a set of habits. I find that many people have a hard time believing that this malady that is so stressful could just be a set of habits and therefore will readily accept the notion that it's a disorder that they can do nothing about.
The problem with this is the fact that their information on Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is wrong. This simply gives people an excuse to not work to get rid of it. They will simply just turn to pills and think that this will solve all their problems. I cannot blame them either, that is after all what the magic box in the living room says that these pills can do. If it's on tv it must be correct. This is just part of the flawed thinking that we have, we simply believe everything that we see on TV.
I find that the most common sources of information on Obsessive Compulsive Disorder are doctors and drug companies, therapists and psychologists. Oddly enough, the only place that I've ever seen cases of cures is on the internet. This makes it really hard for people when they go online to believe that there actually is a cure because people in the main stream simply don't accept this. So what do people like me do when they have had OCD and then beat it? We simply have to stick to our guns and educate people who have been lead astray by the drug companies, etc.
The absolute best source for information on Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is from someone who has had it and beat it. Not only that, but someone that also knows how to teach and has experience doing so. We both know that the only thing that matters is results. Make sure that if you work with someone who helps people with OCD that they have helped others get the results that you are looking to achieve. Then don't expect it to happen over night. You need to be persistent and patient. If you will do this then you are ready for the information that I have for you below, enjoy!

The History of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
The history of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder dates thousands of years back. As far as we can tell, OCD has been around as long as man has. There are many people all over the world that suffer from it. It does not discriminate between races and in fact there are some animals that also have it as well. The reason that animals can have it too is because they have fears and they can create habits out of those fears just like humans can. There are many factors that can make someone more susceptible to developing a major problem with OCD behavior. Thankfully, it is not necessary to pinpoint exactly what has caused it in the individual if you treat the common causes, while educating the person how to refocus their mind away from OCD thoughts, they will get better if they are patient and persistent.
There is really nothing sexy about that answer I know, but that is just how it is. The history of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and the causes of it are not entirely understood. Sadly, most practitioners don't understand it enough to be of any significant help to their clients. I truly believe that this is one of those things that in order to truly be a great help, you must have had gone through it yourself. I think the best way to learn about something is to learn from the person who knows exactly what you are going through. Not to say that someone who has studied it in depth cannot help you, but rather, you may find the process easier when you work with someone who has experienced what you are going through first hand.
I have worked with hundreds of people and have seen many different types of OCD and I can you that the history of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is different for everyone. From far away it appears that OCD is the same for everyone, however when you examine the individual close up, you start to see that they are truly unique. It's analogous to snowflakes in this way, where from afar they appear the same, but examined we learn that no two snowflakes are alike. I think this is a testament to the power and creativity of our God. Most people who suffer from OCD find themselves angry with God and become very bitter about life, then they become depressed. I would truly like to caution you to realize that if you focus on negative things and the things that are going wrong in your life, you will have more of the same. However if you focus on the good things that you have and thank God for those things, you will draw more good things into your life.
If you change the way that you look at things, the things that you are looking at will change too. If you look at your life as crappy, that is how your experience will be. However, if you look at your life as wonderful, that is how your experience will be. So now you have a choice, no matter what the history of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder you have experienced, you can choose to be happy. You can remember that there are those who have mental illnesses that take away their ability to be aware like you and I. Don't sit around and say, "oh poor me!" No, instead think, "I am blessed that I have the ability and the strength to get through this challenge and to overcome it!" I have put together a powerful package of OCD materials below that I hope you enjoy!
